Resources For Christians
I have been educated and trained in mainstream counselling approaches and have worked with clients from all beliefs and backgrounds throughout my career. But when I went through my own struggles, it felt important for me to connect with someone who shared my faith.
Several years ago, when I went looking for help, I was surprised that I could not easily find anyone in Halifax who identified themselves or their practice as serving people of Christian faith. While there are lots of great therapists, I really wanted someone who understood my faith enough to help me use it as a part of my healing.
When I opened my own practice, I wanted to be transparent about this part of myself, even though it is not something I would ordinarily as a therapist.
It’s my hope that by doing this, people who want to draw on their faith will know I am a safe person to open up to.
In my own journey, my faith has been so important. In fact, without Christ, His grace and compassion toward me, I’m convinced I wouldn’t have the same story.
As I look back now, I can see that God was creating something beautiful out of my mess.
I share this with you, because so many of the people I see who are Christ followers, wrestle with the idea that they are a ‘bad Christians’’.
They tell me that they feel alone because they fear judgement or rejection from their faith community if they were to open up.
One of the most important predictors of a successful outcome in therapy is the relationship you build with your therapist. I want to make sure that I’m the right fit for you. I want you to have a sense of confidence, even before your first session, that we’ll work well as a team.
For this reason I offer free 15-minute, no-obligation calls so we can discuss what is going on in your life and make sure I’m the right person to help. If over the course of the call we discover that I’m not the right person for you, I’ll point you in the direction of other resources that might be of help.
