Therapy for stressed women
Stress & Life Balance
It’s been exhausting to feel like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulder.
You have so many responsibilities and you are always pouring yourself out for other people. Work. Kids. Family. Friends. Everyone seems to need something from you. It’s hard to find any sort of life balance. The stress feels like it is killing you.
You long to feel more organized, calm and in control, but when it comes to setting boundaries and taking care of yourself you feel guilty and overwhelmed. You are missing life balance.
In the past, when things were piling up, you could seemingly just pull yourself together and focus until the task was done. It isn’t like you to be impatient, bitter or to binge eat junk food to cope. In fact, you always though of yourself as the of person who could take it all on.
Yet somewhere along the way you started to say ‘yes’ to things when you knew you wanted to say ‘no’.
You began to sacrifice of yourself, your time and energy. By taking on more and more, you intended to quiet that voice in your mind that always tells you that you are not enough. But, no matter how much you did, that nagging belief never went away.
Now you feel beaten down, worn out and discouraged.
You are beginning to wonder if you will always feel like you are stressed out. It feels like you are coming undone under the weight of all these expectations and you are afraid that you are never going to feel a sense of inner peace again. You can’t help but sense that this is all too much for you to bear.
A lot of the time you feel sad and discouraged.
You are not sure how the heck you are going to get out of the mess you are in.
You’re so fed up with feeling stressed and anxious all the time because of the expectations that you have placed on yourself. What used to seem like a perfectly do-able life has deteriorated into something you can no longer stand.
You never imagined you could feel so burnt out. You didn’t expect that you would feel resentful of family, friends and your kids. You never predicted that you could become so stressed out.
And you certainly never expected that you would feel like running away from it all.
It feels as though what you once considered your greatest strength, the ability to ‘do it all’ has become your nemesis.

Counselling for Stress &
You can book a free 15 minute no-obligation call so we can chat more about working together. It’s my hope that even before your first session you’ll have the sense that we can build a strong working relationship together…..and if not, I want to point you in the direction of people who will be able to.
I want my practice space, policies and office hours to be a good fit for you, otherwise, therapy will feel like something stressful you have to squeeze into your busy life, and who needs that.
I want you to have the opportunity to have all your questions answered even before your first session.
Our first session is 60 minutes long so that we can really get to know each other.
People are often really nervous to come to their first counselling session, so I want you know that it’s going to feel just like having a conversation with me.
We will talk about what’s been going on and how anxiety has been getting in the way. We’ll get really clear about your goals for therapy. By the end of this session, we’ll have a plan for the way ahead and you’ll leave with some new things to try out between sessions.
For the first 2-3 sessions I generally meet with women weekly so that we can build momentum in the right direction. At these sessions, I will check in with you to see how things have been going between sessions. You can expect each session to include talking about practical steps you can take to move in the right direction and learning new skills and strategies to take get you there.
You can expect that I’ll be asking you to check these things out between visits so that you’ll be making progress between each time we see each other.
Once you start feeling more confident about maintaining the balance you have been able to find, we will spread out our visits to give you the chance to take the skills we’ve worked on together and test them out as you live your life.
On average I see individuals for 10-20 sessions over a period of time. Of course, this depends on you, your situation and how quickly change starts happening. This is something we will talk about together. Ultimately. I want therapy to be something that adds to your life and doesn’t feel like one more stressful thing to add to your week.
