In the past, when things were piling up, you could seemingly just pull yourself together and focus until the task was done. It isn’t like you to be impatient, bitter or to binge eat junk food to cope.  In fact, you always though of yourself as the of person who could take it all on.

Yet somewhere along the way you started to say ‘yes’ to things when you knew you wanted to say ‘no’.

You began to sacrifice of yourself, your time and energy. By taking on more and more, you intended to quiet that voice in your mind that always tells  you that you are not enough.  But, no matter how much you did, that nagging belief never went away.

Now you feel beaten down, worn out and discouraged.

You are beginning to wonder if you will always feel like you are stressed out. It feels like you are coming undone under the weight of all these expectations and you are afraid that you are never going to feel a sense of inner peace again. It’s my hope that even before your first session you’ll have the sense that we can build a strong working relationship together…..and if not, I want to point you in the direction of people who will be able to.

I want my practice space, policies and office hours to be a good fit for you, otherwise, therapy will feel like something stressful you have to squeeze into your busy life, and who needs that.

I want you to have the opportunity to have all your questions answered even before your first session. 

First Session:

Our first session is 65-70 minutes long so that we can really get to know each other.

People are often really nervous to come to their first counselling session, so I want you know that it’s going to feel just like having a conversation with me.

We will talk about what’s been going on and how anxiety has been getting in the way. We’ll get really clear about your goals for therapy. By the end of this session, we’ll have a plan for the way ahead and you’ll leave with some new things to try out between sessions.

Ongoing Therapy:

For the first 2-3 sessions I generally meet with women weekly so that we can build momentum in the right direction. At these sessions, I will check in with you to see how things have been going between sessions. You can expect each session to include talking about practical steps you can take to move in the right direction and learning new skills and strategies to take get you there.

You can expect that I’ll be asking you to check these things out between visits so that you’ll be making progress between each time we see each other.

Once you start feeling more confident about maintaining the balance you have been able to find, we will spread out our visits to give you the chance to take the skills we’ve worked on together and test them out as you live your life.

On average I see individuals for 10-20 sessions over a period of time. Of course, this depends on you, your situation and how quickly change starts happening. This is something we will talk about together. Ultimately. I want therapy to be something that adds to your life and doesn’t feel like one more stressful thing to add to your week.

Counselling for greater life balance is best for women who often feel stressed out and overwhelmed by  the chaos and business of their life.

You will benefit from Life Balance Therapy if:
  • You are always focused on the future and have a hard time living in the present
  • You feel convinced that things are never going to work out
  • You have stopped doing the things in your life that bring you happiness because you feel too anxious to do them
  • You are pretty sure you don’t have what it takes to cope with the demands that are placed on you
  • You always feel like you have a knot in your stomach and can’t quite place where your uneasy feelings come from
What Does Life Balance Therapy Cost?

My initial session fee is $140 and each session after is $125.

My services are covered by most insurance plans, employee assistance plans and victim services.  I also offer a limited number of reduced fee spots through Open Path Collective.

I am only able to directly bill certain insurance plans on Blue Cross. I will give you a detailed bill to submit to your insurance or to keep for income tax purposes.

I recommend you check your plan specifics before scheduling a session.

There are times when Life Balance Therapy with me might not be the best fit:
  • You have been given a diagnosis of PTSD, Bipolar Disorder or a personality disorder
  • You have been given the diagnosis of an eating disorder and have not received treatment for this
  • You are actively suicidal or self-harming as a way of coping

If any of these apply to you, I can provide you with the appropriate referrals.
